Singing Through the Psalms

Summer 2025 carries listeners through the Psalms in five volumes. That is no small ambition. The Psalter is the Bible's prayer book and songbook, teaching God's people how to speak to Him in every season.

Psalm 1 opens with the blessed person who delights in the law of the Lord. Psalm 150 closes with everything that has breath praising the Lord. Between those poles are laments, thanksgivings, royal psalms, wisdom poems, and songs of ascent. Real faith is not monotone.

Why the Psalms belong in a music project

The Psalms were meant to be sung. Setting them to contemporary music is not a novelty so much as a return. Colossians 3:16 calls the church to let the word of Christ dwell richly, teaching one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs.

As you move through the volumes, notice how often lament turns toward trust. "Why are you cast down, O my soul?" is answered with "Hope in God" (Psalm 42:5). The Psalms give language for sorrow without surrendering to despair.

Use these albums devotionally. Pray the text. Sing what you can remember. Let the Psalter shape both your private prayers and your public worship.
