Return and Rebuild: Hope After Exile

Published May 16, 2025

Exile is not the end of the story. Return & Rebuild gathers the hope of Ezra, Nehemiah, and Esther: a people coming home, a wall rising again, and providence at work inside a foreign palace.

In Ezra, the Lord stirs the spirit of a pagan king so that the remnant may return and rebuild the temple (Ezra 1:1-3). Restoration begins with God's initiative. In Nehemiah, prayer and labor meet opposition, yet the work continues because "the joy of the Lord is your strength" (Nehemiah 8:10) and because God is the one who fights for His people.

Esther and hidden providence

Esther never names God directly, yet His providence saturates the narrative. A Jewish woman becomes queen. A plot is overturned. A people marked for destruction are preserved. What looks like chance is not chance. "Who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?" (Esther 4:14).

After hard seasons, believers need this cluster of books. God rebuilds ruins. God keeps a people. God is at work even when His name is not on the headline. Let the album send you into those chapters with fresh courage.
