Genesis and the Beginning of the Bible Book Series

March 2025 marks a milestone for Resonate the Word: the public beginning of the Bible Book Series with Genesis. The album unfolds the first book of Scripture across twenty songs, from the majesty of creation to the trials and triumphs of the patriarchs.

Genesis is foundational for a reason. It introduces the God who speaks worlds into being (Genesis 1:1-3), the goodness of His creation, and the tragic entrance of sin through human rebellion (Genesis 3). It also introduces the promise that God Himself would provide a Redeemer, the offspring of the woman who would crush the serpent (Genesis 3:15).

From creation to covenant

The early chapters of Genesis move quickly from the garden to the flood, from Babel to Abraham. Through it all, God remains faithful. He calls Abraham, promises land and offspring, and pledges blessing for the nations through him (Genesis 12:1-3). That covenant thread runs through Isaac and Jacob and sets the stage for the rest of the Bible's story.

When we set Genesis to music, we are not inventing a new story. We are asking listeners to walk the same path the text walks: wonder at creation, sobriety about sin, and hope in the God who keeps His word.

Listening as study

Use the album alongside an open Bible. Play a track, then read the passage it draws from. Let the melody carry you back to the text during the day. Scripture memorization is not a gimmick. It is one way the Word dwells richly in God's people.

Genesis is only the first step in a longer journey through the Pentateuch and beyond. We are grateful to begin at the beginning, where God begins.
