Exodus: The God Who Delivers
If Genesis answers "Who is God, and who are we?", Exodus answers "How does God redeem a people for Himself?" Our Exodus album follows that story: oppression in Egypt, the call of Moses, the plagues, Passover, the Red Sea, and the covenant at Sinai.
The book opens with a people who cannot free themselves. Israel groans under slavery, and God hears (Exodus 2:23-25). Deliverance is not self-help. It is grace. The Lord brings Israel out with a mighty hand, so that they would know He is the Lord (Exodus 6:6-7).
Passover and the pattern of redemption
At the center of Exodus stands Passover. A lamb is slain, blood marks the door, and judgment passes over those under that covering (Exodus 12). The New Testament later identifies Christ as our Passover lamb (1 Corinthians 5:7). We do not force that connection into the Exodus songs as speculation. We simply let the text stand, knowing the wider canon teaches how God fulfills what He foreshadows.
On the far side of the sea, Moses and Israel sing (Exodus 15). Redemption produces worship. That is one reason Exodus belongs in a Bible-in-song project: the book itself ends movement with melody.
Law, presence, and belonging
Sinai is not the opposite of grace. It is the gift of a redeemed people learning how to live with the God who saved them. God gives His commandments and also gives the pattern for the tabernacle, the place of His dwelling among them (Exodus 25:8). The holy God draws near.
As you listen to Exodus, notice the movement from bondage to belonging. The same God still delivers sinners through Christ and brings them into His presence by the Spirit. Let the album send you back into the chapters themselves.
