Joy
The world offers joy as a fleeting feeling, dependent on circumstance and gone as quickly as it comes. The Bible offers something far deeper, a joy rooted not in what happens to us, but in who God is and what He has done. Joy traces that truth from Genesis to Revelation across twenty original songs, each grounded in a specific passage of Scripture and placed in the order those events and truths unfold across the biblical narrative, from the morning stars singing together at creation, through the laughter of Sarah and the songs of the Exodus, through David's dancing and Nehemiah's declaration that the joy of the Lord is our strength, through the Psalms and prophets' promises of joy restored, to the announcement of good news of great joy over Bethlehem, the ministry, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus, the joy of the Spirit-filled early church, Paul's unshakable joy from a prison cell, and finally the everlasting joy awaiting God's people when every tear is wiped away forever.
This is not a collection of shallow, happy songs about having a good day. It is a theologically grounded, scripturally faithful exploration of the deep, resilient gladness that comes from belonging to God, resting in His presence, trusting His promises, and hoping in His future. Listeners will walk through creation's original wonder, the laughter of impossible promises kept, the singing and dancing of a redeemed people, the strength found in the Lord even amid tears, the fullness of joy found only in His presence, sorrow turned to morning gladness, the shouting and clapping of joyful praise, the prophets' pictures of wells of salvation and oil of gladness, a baby leaping for joy in the womb, shepherds and wise men rejoicing over a newborn King, Jesus teaching His disciples that His joy might be made full in them, heaven's own joy over one sinner who repents, the stunned and joyful discovery of an empty tomb, the disciples' joy at His ascension, the Spirit-filled joy of the early church, Paul's charge to rejoice in the Lord always, and the everlasting joy that will one day be upon the heads of God's people forever.
Musically, Joy is the most stylistically vibrant album in the Resonance Worship Series, because joy itself refuses to sit still. Sweeping cinematic arrangements carry the wonder of creation and the weight of eternity. Warm acoustic and folk textures carry laughter, wonder, and quiet promise. Driving tribal percussion and Middle-Eastern-flavored worship carry the exodus and the dance of a delivered people. Funk-inflected gospel and clap-along praise carry unrestrained celebration. Gospel-blues carries the honest ache of sorrow turning to morning joy. Anthemic pop-rock and gospel-rock carry resilience, resurrection power, and the call to rejoice always. Hip-hop-influenced rhythm and cadence carry modern testimony and Spirit-filled celebration. Every style, however it's dressed, is written to be uplifting, hope-filled, and singable, because the subject of this album is the very joy it hopes to deliver.
Joy is scripturally accurate, theologically sound, and immediately singable, appropriate for personal devotion, corporate worship gatherings, celebration, and family listening across every age and stage of life. It is an invitation to stop chasing fleeting happiness and instead discover the unshakable, ever-present joy that is found only in Jesus, a joy the world did not give, and a joy the world cannot take away.
"You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore." Psalm 16:11
